Sunday, 7th October 2018   MONSAL REARS IT'S HEAD AGAIN!    10 miles  5 hrs   Grade 2
Start Time: 10:00am    Grid Ref: SK185715. Circular walk from the Monsal Head Hotel. Postcode DE45 1NL. Pay and display parking is available at the Hotel. There is, however, limited free parking on the road opposite the Hotel.
We begin the walk from the panoramic vistas at the Monsal Head Hotel, before descending sharply to the Monsal Trail. Ambling leisurely towards Litton Mill, we bypass the aesthetically pleasing, yet imposing Cressbrook Mill. The charming Tideswell Dale awaits our next romp, eventually arriving at the village green and a cheeky stop at our first pub of the day (The Red Lion Inn) - with the enticing option of an ice-cream shop also being at our disposal. Suitably refreshed, we surge towardsTansley Dale, dropping through the majestic gorge, towards the imposing and striking Peter's stone. From this vantage point we take a minor detour to Wardlow Mires, where the unique charm of our second pub visit awaits (The 3 Stags Head). As the survivors meander back through Cressbrook Dale, passing Cressbrook Mill, we canter along the valley before ascending sharply for final libations at the third tavern of the day (Monsal Head Hotel). Gaiters advised, along with a hearty lunch. Lunch required.

Points to Remember:
1. Please call the walk leader before the walk in case any details have changed.

3. Dogs are welcome but only with the prior agreement of the walk leader
4. If the walk leader decides to shorten the walk then that decision is final and is not open to negotiation. The leader will only do this when there is a good reason for doing so.
5. Even if a walk does not state packed lunch, it is always advisable to bring something to eat and drink.
6. If transport is shared, please provide the driver with a share of the fuel costs.
7. Non RA members are welcome to join us for 3 walks before being asked to join the RA. There are no exceptions to this.
